Theory: WHOLE STEPS AND HALF STEPS

Figure 1 shows the notes A,B,C,D,E,F, and G once again, this time with the naturally occuring whole steps and half steps marked. The half steps occur naturally between B and C as well as E and F.

On the guitar, a half step is the equivalent of moving one fret, up or down. A whole step is the distance of two half steps or, a movement of two frets.
